As the Global Partnerships Coordinator, I contribute to program development and coordination, education and capacity building, advocacy and policy development, in support of KAIROS’ objectives for global justice. Key areas of focus is within KAIROS’ Women, Peace and Security program and the partnership, education and advocacy work related to KAIROS' Global South partners.

In the context of KAIROS’ vision and mission, I was responsible for developing and implementing key fundraising projects, including annual plans for grant fundraising, planned giving, and the digital fundraising program. In collaboration with others on the fundraising team, I contributed to KAIROS’ long-term and annual fundraising plans, analyzed quarterly results and revenue projections, and adjusted plans to meet expectations. I engaged relevant program staff in identifying those parts of the KAIROS programs most likely to attract foundations, government, unions and other grantors as well as developed new projects to widen the scope of KAIROS’ fundraising.

Humewood's programs are grounded on empowering young women from a pro-choice, trauma informed, intersectional framework to empower each young woman and her children to reach their full potential.As the organization's Development Coordinator, I strengthened the organization's programs by improving its visibility through development of strategies that evoke community involvement and engagement. I also researched ways to bring in additional funds including tracking philanthropic requests, pledges, contributions and approaching benefactors for appeals, increasing the organization’s annual fundraising goal by 60%.

KELEGA Youth Education and Advocacy is a Human Rights and Media Advocacy organization.As the Projects and Communications Coordinator, I ran the organization's programs and projects including coordinating operational aspects, informing and shaping its strategic direction. I developed communication strategies and materials, including extensive media relations and media monitoring.I wrote grant proposals and successfully fundraised for multi-year projects. Also researched, co-authored and edited the organization’s publications as well as developed project implementation plans including coordinating outreach to civil society organizations and other potential allies. As well, I documented human rights violations data and situation of sexual minority persons in Kenya.

Alongside program staff, I implemented the Program’s mission to leverage HRC’s domestic work in the international sphere. I was the lead author of the Global Engagement inaugural annual publication – Equality Rising – https://assets2.hrc.org/files/assets/resources/Equality_Rising_2014_-_FINAL.pdfI also researched and wrote memos and policy papers on the situation of human rights of LGBT persons and human rights defenders in Africa, for presentation at inter-government policy meetings. As well, developed a partnerships program to create relationships with international human rights organizations and grant making networks to further support international work on LGBT human rights. Through the Fellowship, other accomplishments included meetings and presentations about LGBT human rights work in Kenya and Africa at U.S. policy institutions, such as the State Department and U.S. Peace Corps, lectures at various Universities, and workshops at conferences and at other human rights organizations across the U.S.
