I was responsible for delivering exploratory and capability building projects for clients in central and local government, the higher education sector and the banking sector. This involved using agile techniques to help clients understand service user needs, their key service aims and challenges and how to move forward. The work was varied and ranged from project delivery and workshop facilitation, to delivering user research and client training. Expertise areas included delivering major change associated with embedding new services; service design, development and marketing; and developing measurement frameworks. I also supported development of the team’s sales strategy - identifying and building relationships in key sectors and supporting bid writing and pitching. The role came to an end due to a restructure of the agency.

Aug 2022 - May 2024

Associate Director, People Experience

London Area, United Kingdom

I was accountable for making sure that the Stroke Association's people (staff and volunteers) experienced the charity as a place they can connect, create impact and thrive in line with our shared values. As part of the transition to a new operating model, I gained senior buy-in for a transformational approach to culture change that encouraged a positive view of our people (Theory Y) and enabled us to sense and respond to the unpredictable nature of our environment. I built momentum through partnering with with teams to explore cultural challenges as well as a creative comms and engagement approach - one that inspires curiosity and two-way dialogue within the organisation, including online content, experiment design workshops, an online festival and ‘ask anything’ sessions. We very quickly observed change, particularly around the approach to strategy design, and collaboration and coaching behaviours.I ensured effective and compliant change communications through the restructure consultation, seeing a 5% point increase in year on year people engagement score and a 22% point increase in ‘welcoming change’ score. As part of this change, I built a new People Experience function, creating conditions for the team to thrive as role models and a visible and credible go-to source of expertise in a matter of months. I oversaw and coached the team to design and deliver effective internal communications, the equality, diversity and inclusion strategy and the volunteering strategy.
