Artist In Education For The Minnesota State Arts BoardMinnesota State Arts Board Jun 1986 - Sep 2011Working with found, discarded, and collected objects to create sculpture-assemblage develops an acknowledgment of choice as part of the creative process, improves motor and spatial skills, and stimulates problem-solving abilities. My residency begins two weeks prior to my arrival, when the students begin collecting recycled objects from their homes. The students will transform throw-away objects into fantastic sculptures of robots. The core classes will make their robots kinetic by making a circuit using a battery, wire, motor, and switch. My residency addresses science and environmental issues. It is designed to allow children the freedom to be spontaneous and to be creative using their own ideas. At the end, I like to organize a public showing of their work.I have taught art classes at the Walker Art Center and the Science Museum of Minnesota.www.corktruck.com -
