About Jane Marie Newell

I have slept...on a boat on the Amazon River... in a hammock in the jungles of Southeast Asia...in a tent in sub-saharan Africa. I have laid my head in countless places. As a city girl, born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, it is something I had to grow accustomed to. I go to the remote places of the world because it is there that I find people who don't know God. Those who have never heard the name of Jesus or experienced His peace, His healing, and His power over evil. In 2015, I was finishing my double major in Marketing and Management and received my first job as a Marketing Coordinator. I love the science of Marketing with the creative and analytical thinking it requires. This was also the year I truly gave my life to Christ. I went on my first mission trip and it was there that I felt the Holy Spirit impress on me that God wanted to use my talents not for business, but for ministry. I have since dedicated my life to ministry in the form of international missions with Overland Missions. I have carried numerous responsibilities since joining. For three years my husband and I raised up teams from America and brought them into remote places to spearhead long-term work. I also used my marketing skills to start the first media team in Overland. It started out with four people and after three years, we had 14. This resulted in a 400% increase in followers on social media, Overland's first print magazine, fully-equipped graphic designers, regular newsletters, and Overland's podcast - Gospel & Grit. I now run the Advanced Missions Training school in Zambia with my husband. There are two classes a year and, upon graduation, we send these newly trained missionaries into their assignments.I believe the Gospel is the most important message, and this is why I have dedicated my life to making it known. It is a message of freedom and liberation from the power of evil in our lives. Humans have always wondered the meaning of existence, the Gospel directly answers that question - to be loved by God and love others. Jesus reconciled us back to God through His sacrifice and as believers we in turn carry the ministry of reconciliation to the world.
