I am an educator that emphasizes developing problem solving skills and understanding of content in the learner, regardless of age. I do this by making an effort to connect with the learner so that I can adjust my instruction to meet his or her individual educational needs. I boost the learner's confidence with frequent, "I know you can do ..." statements and other positive feedback. A variety of instructional strategies are used including: coaching the student through the thought process needed to get to an answer; using an analogy to tie a new concept to something the learner is already familiar with; and, when appropriate, providing the minimum step-by-step, "how-to"​ process to get the correct result. Emphasizing what the learner is doing right, promoting a 'can do' attitude toward learning and encouraging getting tasks done, all while having fun, is what I believe makes a good teacher.
