CtoSalon Software Solutions Ltd Sep 2014 - Apr 2015SSSL was formed from the split of Integrity into multiple separate companies and has several product lines in the area of Salon and Spa business management. As CTO I managed the successful migration of two offices to new premises including multiple backup plans to ensure business continuity when some of our suppliers failed to deliver to time. During this time I also launched the SaaS solution, Zuberri (www.zuberri.com) to the industry as the only saas solution for salons that continues to function while offline, critical for many of the people in the industry who are often in areas of poor internet connectivity. All feedback so far has been immensely positive and we are coming to the end of the free trial period for our first launch phase and have already started to see trialists convert to subscribers. -

As Group CTO I instigated continuity of process across the three divisions and structure to the previously ad hoc development and QA cycles. Understanding of Agile within the teams was reinforced and new processes were introduced and monitored to ensure that the rate and quality of development improved. To support these changes I hired new talent to manage the two development divisions requiring the largest improvements, and also key specialist roles that had previously been missing in order to move Integrity from an amalgamation of disparate divisions to an ordered group that could collaborate and take advantage of shared resources. With trusted individuals in key positions, I was able to focus on technical innovation to support the growth of the company. -
Sage 1000 Development Team LeaderSage Jul 2008 - Mar 2011Newcastle Upon Tyne, GbAlthough most commonly known for their accounts solutions, Sage develop a wide variety of business software including, CRM, ERP, HR and Payroll products. As Development Team Leader I was responsible for a team of between 7 and 10, two of which were home workers, both in terms of their development but also defining and directing their work items using an Agile process to deliver the underlying infrastructure for the new software versions. In addition to my team leader role, I took on the coordination of the new integration mechanism with teams based in Ireland and the USA, working directly with the product managers of the CRM teams to ensure that our requirements were met. For the version 3 release of Sage ERP 1000 I had the added responsibility of being the Early Adopter Programme manager, ensuring that the software had sufficient real world testing prior to its official release to market date.I was responsible for the coordination of the Amazon Cloud demonstration environment for business partners including assisting with the legal contract, ensuring that the demonstration servers was regularly updated and that the business partners were kept informed about the updates. This was an exciting initiative allowing early visibility of the software while it was still in development, so that the Business Partners could feedback and affect the final version, while at the same time preparing their own customisations in advance of the market release date.In order to support Sage’s corporate social responsibility program I identified the potential for work experience students and took on sole responsibility for ensuring all internal and external requirements were met, creating the necessary induction packages and liaising with schools to identify potential students. This has been a very rewarding programme and the materials I produced will be used elsewhere in the business as a template. -

Under my control, testing of the software was carried out to schedule, and the N70 was sold around the world in the final quarter of 2005, instantly becoming a market leader and recouping development costs within 4 weeks of release. -
