To continue to pursue encore career goals taking a work sabbatical to update my skills.

After reviewing things that I am good at and things I liked to do I settled on looking for Scrum Master positions. I started supporting multiple scrum teams as a contractor with Providence Health & Services, Providence Health Plans, which was a big change moving into IT from commercial software. Enjoying the environment where the teams are continually delivering value to the business stakeholders. Also like researching and working with my teams to continually improve how we do business.

Because I am incredibly self-motivated, I commit myself to projects and learning. My days are filled with continuing education on cloud native development and improving my software engineering skills with new technologies. I continue to discover ways to apply these new skills in my day to day life.I am vastly interested in the internet of things and how it can streamline my home. I made an excellent start with devices in my life connecting to the internet and voice controlled, but the software to control those devices continues to be challenging...buggy with poor UX. Education and skills to improve my home IoT is a journey that is just starting. I am continuing to search for opportunities to use my vast experience and mentor and encourage girls in STEM.

A group of CAD software experts invited me to join a small, startup group in San Diego to develop the Autodesk Inventor Drawing Manager. After acting as senior software engineer and technical lead, I accepted promotion to manager and moved to the Inventor headquarters in Portland.I accepted one of my greatest challenges to set up a productive and scalable Inventor API team. I quickly transformed a small crisis-driven team into a high-performing global and cross-functional team. The products built on the expanded API established a new, profitable product line. The next challenge was to direct the Inventor Core Platform global engineering team owning the integral core functionality. During this period R&D exploded from 100 to 400 global resources and my team expanded to 60 designers, SWD, QA and managers. I also exercised versatility by leading the Inventor project and program managers. I was then promoted to senior software manager.We required a revolution to switch how we were developing our software so I shifted culture from waterfall to agile across my large, distributed software team by introducing and piloting Agile Scrum. I coached team on agile best practices and fostered a collaborative spirit between engineering and business to accelerate change. I next moved to a new organization that developed the Autodesk cloud native applications. I managed during another period of great change as Autodesk product focus switched from desktop to cloud. There were many opportunities to learn and lead cloud native development, promote DevOps best practices and continue to act as agile coach and scrum master to improve our work processes.My last challenge was to improve top-tier Autodesk customer satisfaction and make a sunset plan for a mature product. I directed a tight-knit global engineering, operations and support team. I also continued agile process improvements to assist team in delivering continuous customer value in the face of many obstacles.

Developed Intuit’s first online tax application, 1040EZ Online, and as the only software developer collaborating with multiple tax experts and QA, delivered an online product successfully used by thousands of customers.
