As the founder and CEO of PlateAI, Janethkareen leverages the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to provide personalized meal planning for people suffering from Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. By customizing meal plans, PlateAI helps to manage NCDs, improve health outcomes, and ultimately, reduce healthcare costs in Tanzania.According to the World Health Organization (WHO), NCDs are responsible for over 38 million deaths annually, with 28 million of these deaths occurring in low and middle-income countries. In Tanzania, NCDs account for 27% of all deaths and have been identified as a significant public health challenge. PlateAI addresses this challenge by providing an innovative solution that harnesses the power of AI and data science to improve health outcomes and reduce the burden of NCDs in Tanzania.In addition to her work with PlateAI, Janethkareen is a passionate advocate for promoting gender equality in Tanzania. Through an organization called Help to Help, Janethkareen has trained more than 400 girls in computer skills, providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to pursue careers in technology and bridge the gender gap in employment opportunities.
