I currently serve as Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 trustee in numerous bankruptcy matters primarily in the District of Maryland. I also represent secured and unsecured creditors, pursuing claims in the bankruptcy and workout context. My practice includes representations of debtors as well, both in bankruptcy matters and in guiding companies experiencing financial challenges through the workout process. I am particularity known for resolution of matters that require a creative approach in maximizing the recovery for clients. This includes purchases of claims, hostile takeovers in the bankruptcy context and pursuit of creditor plans as well as the traditional panoply of bankruptcy strategies. I also work on matters involving government contractors, including companies owned by minority and disadvantaged individuals. My work is not limited to bankruptcy matters, but also encompasses contract litigation and other matters that arise. I recently developed a successful out of court work-out plan that enabled a large area not-for profit that is a regional branch of a national organization, to resolve numerous lease and other financial problems without the filing of a Chapter 11 case, enabling the organization to continue its community work without interruption. I also recently consummated a large contested asset purchase by a competitor of a Chapter 11 debtor. I have taught various legal education courses to both lawyers and non-lawyers for organizations including the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Maryland Bankruptcy Bar Association, George Washington Law Center, First American Title Company, and the Bar Association of Montgomery County.
