I started as a recruiter, reaching out to a variety of populations to increase hiring opportunities at Chick-fil-A. My job evolved over time and included marketing and outreach. After accepting a position at Boone County, I continued at Chick-fil-A in a limited role, focusing on internal Communications, specifically the weekly newsletter. I also help on a as-needed basis.

7-12 English Teacher

I am a Senior English teacher working on 4×4 block schedule. Since joining BCHS, I've made it a priority to create a student centered classroom. The school's goal is to have every teacher using Canvas LMS for one class. I currently use Canvas in all of my classes to push out content and create a blended learning environment.

I designed the curriculum for the new English 4 Honors class. Aside from teaching the core English classes, I also teach the electives Creative Writing, Sherlock Holmes, Public Speaking, mythology and Introduction to Theater. My students know me as the reader and supplier of books. Over the past four years my in-class library has grown significantly. Students are given reading time in my class to read their book of choice everyday. By instituting this program, many students saw an increase in their ACT score.A majority of the students I teach are seniors. While teaching them about reading and writing, I also work to prepare them for the transition to college.I adopted technology in my classroom before most of my colleagues. For this reason, I was tasked with negotiating licensing costs for online programs such as Membean and Turnitin. My negotiation skills helped to save the school over $2500.00.

I worked as a guest instructor at the Northern Kentucky Writing Project. I teach grammar to teachers in a variety of content areas. I also assist participants with their final presentation and help to edit various handouts and power points. I continue to use the NWP as a resource to improve my teaching.

I stepped into this position following the resignation of another teacher. While difficult, I learned a great deal about classroom management and urban education. I had 100 8th graders that I taught on a block A/B schedule. I also successfully completed KTIP. I left Holmes when offered a job at Villa Madonna Academy.
