I was focused on the synthesis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, namely rylenes, acenes and starphenes. The goal was to design and synthesize new compounds with intrinsic potential for their application in molecular or organic electronics, for instance. In addition to the laboratory practice, I developed my English and French language skills and I have been taught how to get through a painful administrative system without losing my mind and smile.

As a part of my PhD thesis, my focus was synthesis and characterization of amphiphilic electron-rich compounds and study of their assembly into Langmuir-Blodgett thin films. I was the organizer of team building events for a scientific group of 20 members. I was honoured to be a temporary logistic assistant of the Nobel Prize laureate Jean-Pierre Sauvage during his stay in Prague in 2018. In 2019, I successfully defended my PhD thesis at UCT Prague.
