We use the power of video within schools and between schools to share best practices, train teachers, and intentionally reflect on academic instruction, school wide culture, teacher development and school leadership. Currently building the largest online database of short videos highlighting best practices (grounded in research) in real classrooms, and providing efficient, high quality professional development to K-12 teachers everywhere.We work relentlessly every day to help schools grow through using this video internally, as well as to share best practices from others across the country who are doing the same work.

Designed and implemented school-wide professional development focused around long-term planning and data driven instruction. This included supporting and facilitating staff in their transition from the the North Carolina Standard Course of Study to the Common Core State Standards.Planned and executed weekly professional development for all staff (35 teachers), as well as weekly professional development for all first-year teachers. Observed all Initially Licensed Teachers and provided feedback in bi-weekly one-on-one meetings. Facilitated bi-weekly Data Meetings with all Middle School staff, analyzing student achievement data, and adjusting both long-term plans and assessments, as well as daily plans and assessments, to maximize student mastery of objectives. Chaired the school Teacher Recruitment & Selection Committee, and assisted in the development of a hiring rubric and selection process responsible for hiring new staff members. Process was used to hire 10 new teachers each year, selected from applicant pools of over 200.

Assisted in the development and execution of a summer teacher training curriculum for a team of 36 new teachers. Developed and delivered weekly professional development sessions focused around classroom management, instruction and culture. Observed 5-10 classrooms daily, following up with each teacher in a 30-minute one-on-one meeting. Provided weekly lesson plan feedback.

Watched and analyzed video footage of exceptional classrooms from around the country, ranging from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Curated the content down to appropriate clips and sequences that highlighted best teaching practices, aligned to a framework, to be used by RGSE faculty and professors in training and supporting their teachers.

Implemented and adapted school-wide US History curriculum, driving students towards mastery of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Led 94% of students to proficiency by the end of the year, as measured by the North Carolina End-of-Course exam.

Managed the collection and analysis of Institute wide data, including operations data, Student Achievement data, Corps Member performance data and weekly satisfaction data, in order to identify trends and develop action steps leading to organizational growth. Developed training for all staff in effectively collecting and using their data, as well as worked to invest all staff members in the importance of data-driven decision making in order to increase our overall effectiveness.Observed instructional training sessions, as well as summer classrooms, to identify, analyze and strategize around Institute wide trends, as well as offer feedback to increase staff and teacher effectiveness.

Collected and compiled data collected from corps members and regional Program Team, and analyzed results for staff use. Coordinated the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) testing among 20 instructors teaching grades 3-10, managing material delivery, instructor training and execution of tests for over 1,500 students. Coordinated Eastern North Carolina's matriculation campaign, managing a team of 12 staff members in meeting the goal of matriculating 100 new corps members for 2009.

Created and implemented workshops on technology integration in elementary, middle and high schools to groups ranging from 3-30 individuals. Workshops have included, but are not limited to, “The New Pencil and Paper: How Blogging Can Change the Way Our Students Write”, “How Web 2.0 Can Revolutionize Your Professional Development” and “Quick Tech Tips for any Classroom”.

Designed and implemented a school technology curriculum, and led 95% of students to proficiency by the end of the year, as measured by the North Carolina Computer Skills test. Designed a staff technology curriculum to enhance school and network wide communication and sharing. Facilitated a group of Teach For America teachers in improving classroom teaching and student performance.

Served as a middle-school technology teacher in a low-income, rural community in Eastern North Carolina, leading students to 95% mastery on End-of-Grade tests. Facilitated a group of eight Teach for America teachers in discussing and implementing classroom best practices as a Transition Team Leader.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

Managed a university resident hall floor of 150 ethnically diverse undergraduate students. Facilitated weekly and monthly floor meetings and programs to educate residents on campus issues, as well as to discuss events, developments and concerns to ensure that students are kept up-to-date on all pertinent information. Mediated roommate and floor conflicts and facilitated conversations in order to promote a peaceful living environment.Selected Resident Assistant of the Year (2006) from a staff of 75 undergraduate and graduate RAs.

Initiated an HIV/AIDS awareness fair to benefit the American University community. Organized various speakers, panels and educational booths to raise awareness on campus about HIV/AIDS prevention. Served as a Teaching Assistant for the Freshman class, facilitating and mentoring a group of seven students while working on transgender homeless issues in Washington, DC.

Assisted in 12 New Student Orientations, facilitating group discussions on issues such as diversity and adjusting to college life.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

Organized, assigned duties, and contacted regularly a volunteer corps of 50 college students from area DC colleges. Led one of our high school delegations, implementing a program wide curriculum teaching high school students about DC City and Federal Government, how to write and present legislative proposals, and parliamentary procedure debate techniques.Completed a marathon in 2004 in order to raise over $3,500 to send eight of our students to the prestigious YMCA Youth Conference on National Affairs in Asheville, NC. Received DC Youth & Government Service to Youth Award in 2005.

EMILY’s List is the nation’s largest Political Action Committee that aims to help elect pro-choice Democratic women to office. Researched candidates, and their opponents, in House, Senate and Governor races across the country using a variety of online databases and search engines. Prepared briefs educating campaign teams on our candidates and their opponents.

The Fund for Public Interest Research Group, the national canvassing organization created by the State PIRGs, works to build membership for several other national non-profit lobby groups, including the Human Rights Campaign, the State PIRGs, Sierra Club and Greenpeace. Led a team of canvassers (between 3 and 5) each day to various sections of Washington, DC. Educated and motivated team members to ensure membership quotas were met.Earned position as the #1 PIRG street canvasser in the United States, determined by the amount of money raised.

Worked as an Intern in our local PA Representative's office.

Served as a Congressional Page in the U.S. House of Representatives for a summer term.
