Reporting to the Head of Investment, London & South (previously Head of HLF London) the role involves:- Management of the assessment and processing of a range of large grant applications, from £2m - £15m+ across the HLF’s programme portfolio – including: analysing applications; writing case papers and presenting recommendations to Committee and Board; issuing contracts and liaising with legal staff; managing risk; taking appropriate action in the event of variances, requests for change or problems; and authorising payment claims.- Direct line management of two Investment Managers (previously Grants Officers) including: overseeing their work, providing advice and support; reviewing written work; conducting staff appraisals; and managing staff development.- Providing advice, feedback and guidance to applicants and grantees, liaising and negotiating with advisers, senior staff and external organisations.- Assisting in the formulation of regional grants strategies, participating in outreach activities, by speaking at seminars, talks and presentations on the organisation’s behalf, and pursuing other strategic objectives.
