I planned and developed the content for the lifelong learning programme across Derby Museums’ three sites: Derby Museum and Art Gallery, Pickford’s House and the Museum of Making, as well as the digital platform: Derby Museums from Home. I researched the collections, permanent displays, temporary exhibitions and relevant themes; working with freelancers, makers, volunteers, external organisations and other museum staff to co-create a varied programme to appeal to a wide range of audiences. I was responsible for providing learning opportunities for early years, families, young people and adults such as workshops and trails, ensuring these were inclusive and accessible. In addition, I worked on funded projects with specific audiences and partnership working with external organisations and community groups. My involvement included contributing to funding applications, mapping out project timescales, identifying outputs and outcomes, apportioning and managing budgets, designing forms of evaluation and report writing. Most recently I worked in partnership with Masion Foo, supporting their project ‘A Seat at our Table’, an art installation and performance piece working with people seeking sanctuary.Finally, as a member of the learning team I have supported the formal side of the Learning Programme by giving feedback on current school sessions, developing new sessions when required and delivering training to the school’s facilitators to increase skills and confidence within the team.

I managed the day-to-day running of the Learning Department ensuring procedures and practices were maintained to a high standard. This was recognised by receiving the Sandford Award in 2016. I planeed, researched and wrote the formal learning offer at Sudbury and I was responsible for developing the property's family engagement offer and coordinating a number of events in line with the property's public programming. I line managed two learning assistants and a team of approximately 30 learning volunteers. Finally, I work in partnership with external organisations on community engagement projects.

I programmed schemes of work and taught classes of adults from a variety of countries and levels of English. My classes included general English, examination classes and British culture. During the summer I took on the additional role of social secretary which involved organising weekly social events to enrich the students time in the UK.My time at the University of Gloucestershire helped me to become highly organised. I shared my morning classes with another teacher, so I learned to work in close partnership with other teachers to design and develop courses to meet our students’ needs and learning styles. I also worked independently to develop new learning materials and to devise programmes of study. Furthermore, I learned to manage groups of people from very different cultural backgrounds and showed respect and diplomacy in difficult situations.I left this job in order to study for a Masters in 'Heritage Education and Interpretation' at Newcastle University.
