Janine Y. Saunders, EdD, MPH, served as a Program Manager in ETR's Oakland office. She supports a variety of school health research and evaluation projects in San Francisco Unified and Oakland Unified School Districts. Dr. Saunders is the lead evaluator for Project Prevent, a federally funded program to provide targeted services to address the needs of students exposed to trauma and violence. She also supports survey administration projects including the bi-annual administration of the Youth Risk Behavior Survey and the California Healthy Kids Survey in Bay Area school districts. In addition, Dr. Saunders serves at the principal investigator for ETR’s Community Impact Solutions, a project designed to strengthen the impact and effectiveness of HIV services and build the capacity of the HIV workforce across the nation.

Responsibilities included providing statewide technical assistance and training to school-based health centers (SBHCs) and school district health programs to expand the scope and improve the quality of their services, support sustainability, and assess the impact of services.

Responsibilities included managing a wide range of school health programs for students throughout the Bay Area including drug and alcohol prevention/treatment services and programs related to student health/wellness, bullying, school safety, positive school climate and youth development.

Responsibilities included management of 15 school-based health education and social service programs including violence prevention, alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) prevention, HIV prevention education, coordinated school health, and programs for foster/homeless youth.
