Eastbrook, Cambridge

Working within the BIS Local London and East team, part of a wider joint BIS, Cabinet Office and DCLG unit working on local growth policy including Growth Deals, I led on the Department’s relationship with the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership and its partners to promote economic development and create jobs in Hertfordshire. I also led for BIS Local on business support matters working closely with colleagues to ensure that business support provided by the Department met local needs.

Responsible for the development and delivery of business support services in the East of England including the regional Business Link offer. EEDA supports over 100,000 businesses each year by providing high-quality support, information, advice and funding. Currently supporting transition arrangements for business support services as EEDA prepares for closure.

Responsible for the development and implementation of a regional ICT strategy including the development of a support package for SMEs to facilitate the effective adoption of new technologies. A £2m programme from November 2007 to March 2010, over 4000 companies were supported in the implementation of significant IT projects, resulting in a total IT investment of £2.8m. During this time I also led on the successful procurement and implementation of a regional CRM system for use by multiple business support agencies. The platform resulted in the more co-ordinated delivery of services to over 100,000 customers across the Eastern region.

Led the development of a knowledge management strategy and the subsequent introduction of key systems, embedding a knowledge sharing culture across the organisation.

Reporting directly to the International IT Director, joined Clifford Chance prior to its three-way international merger in Jan 2000 as Communications Manager for the systems integration team. The team managed a change management programme to ensure that the 500 worldwide technology teams changed from being independent units to a world-firm term sharing common systems, standards and culture.
