Contract Position: Business Analyst/QA AnalystClient: Illinois Department of Employment ServicesThis project is a re-design of the existing fraud detection applications for Illinois Unemployment. Thegoal is to upgrade the current application to newer technology, integrate this new system into the existing Illinois Unemployment system and DBMS (Database Management System), and to enhance the current functionality.I am performing both in a Business Analyst Role and QA Analyst role on this project.In a BA Role, • Studied and documented one of the of the current applications. Reviewed with project stakeholders so they would fully understand how the current system functions.• Lead requirements/design meetings. Designed what the new system would look like based on the functionality which needed to be retained and the functionality needed to support business operational needs.• Critical to the new system is a calculation which predicts the probability of overpayments to individuals and possible fraudulent activity. The calculation was derived through regression analysis. Studied the calculation to understand how the value of each of the variables was derived from the data and the source of the data. Based on these findings, defined the calculation, what each of the variables represented conceptually and how to calculate each of them. Documented these findings and this document has been adopted as the requirements document to implement this calculation into the new system. • Developed mathematical allocation algorithms. The business users of the application have some processes which are performed manually and are highly time consuming. These algorithms will be used to automate this work for them. In a QA role, • Took a lead role in defining the test approach;• Developed test cases and performed testing;• Performed defect reporting and set up reporting to track testing progress;• Reviewed testing artifacts of fellow team members.

Contract Position: QA AnalystClient: Sears Holdings Corporation, Quality Assurance Analyst, DOS Logistics Direct Delivery Center (DDC) Centralized Stocking, IMA DC Item MaintenanceIMA is an application which is replacing the Sears legacy system (CORE) as the central item repository.• Performed application testing for the Sears warehouse applications (DOS)• Performed the integration testing with the IMA and DC Item Maintenance teams to ensure DOS receives the proper maintenance and that the maintenance was correct• Based on my testing, recommended several design changes which were implemented

Lead Systems Engineer for EIS business intelligence application which reports financials to high-level executives. Among other financials, application reports daily sales (actual, plan, forecast), store margin, and profit and loss. Worked with stakeholders to refine requirements for many of the data feeds and enhancements to application. Developed, tested, installed, and maintained these data feeds.Coached off-shore resources in development of static reports for the application. Assisted in testing and implementing these processes and set up the job schedules according to stakeholder requirements.In pre-production phase, manually ran applications to support user acceptance testing.Defined test approach and test cases for disaster recovery testing. Executed testing. Gaps were identified, and changes were put in place to eliminate or mitigate risk.Provided 24x7 on-call support of application.

In the year 2000, Sears IT was restructured as a matrix organization and the quality assurance career path was established. This afforded me the opportunity to work on a variety of applications requiring different testing approaches and utilizing a variety of technologies.-establised master test plan outlining testing scope, defining test approach, deliverables and processes, risks, resource and scheduling needs;-lead and managed team of testers in the planning, scheduling and execution of testing activities;-actively participated in requirements, design and code walkthroughs;-developed test cases and performed test execution;-analyzed and tracked progress of defect closure;-evaluated and reported testing status and project risks.

This system supported Sears transportation needs, from creating a booking, tendering the booking to a carrier, tracking the status of the booking, and handling payment to the carrier.Challenged by senior management to improve the quality of the releases for this application and improving the perception the business stakeholders had of its IT support. Improvements were made in both areas.
