WellStat is a Private Equity-owned business dedicated to transforming how buildings monitor, analyze, and optimize energy usage. At WellStat, I am the software team lead, responsible for delivery of all software engineering work for a suite of products generating > $20M per year. • Directed a team of 9 software engineers developing energy and IAQ monitoring solutions, deployed in hundreds of buildings across New York City, Chicago, and nationwide. • Established coding standards, agile practices, and reliable release schedules, improving team productivity and cross-departmental trust in delivery timelines. • Spearheaded development tooling enhancements, significantly improving local development speed and the overall developer experience. • Collaborated with stakeholders to define software requirements and ensured the timely delivery of high-quality solutions.

I was brought on at Ministry Pass & Sermonary to create and lead a product engineering team that was responsible for two subscription-based apps (to grow to three while I was there) exceeding $2M in annual revenue, and several additional traffic-generating web properties. Being the first technical hire, my responsibilities were extremely broad, ranging from providing company-wide technical strategy, to product management/ownership, architecting complex software solutions, and engineering management, all while individually contributing to software projects on an ongoing basis.While there, I recruited and managed a team of software engineers, product designers, and contractors, led large initiatives across multiple apps simultaneously, built internal tools to enhance other teams across the company, and worked with leadership to evaluate, acquire, and onboard a third subscription-based app into our portfolio.I operated as the technical lead in rewriting two apps on modern platforms (React/Node and Laravel TALL stack), led the creation of a GraphQL API to serve as the central "source of truth" for all of our apps, and handled the migration of user accounts, subscriptions, and data to new platforms with minimal interruption or downtime.I introduced product management practices to the company and our apps, led the creation of and regularly reported on North Star metrics, implemented user behavior & product analytics for our apps, and led stakeholders in regularly making product decisions based on this data.I created and maintained roadmaps for our various software projects, guided features from ideation to implementation, including setting and adjusting scope, writing project briefs, guiding technical design and implementation, communicating features and functionality to the team, and regularly implementing some of the most complex parts of projects myself.

At Burkeshop I worked as a technical consultant for software companies and agencies that needed additional manpower or expertise, particularly on backend projects. I was a "fixer" that was generally employed to solve problems or build functionality that others in the organization did not have expertise in, so the work I have done in this role has been eclectic, including full-stack development, native iOS and Android app development, API development, 3rd party systems integrations, providing technical strategic leadership, establishing CI/CD pipelines, and anything else that my clients needed.

SkyVerge was the top creator of WooCommerce extensions and the maker of Jilt, an email marketing app (Rails monolith) tailored for eCommerce shops, and was acquired by GoDaddy in 2020.I started at SkyVerge as a Senior Software Engineer working on payment gateways and other critical software that has been deployed to hundreds of thousands of eCommerce shops all over the internet.While there, I became the primary maintainer for a critical piece of software that managed the link between thousands of WooCommerce and Easy Digital Downloads shops with our central Jilt app. This required me to grow proficient in both of our technology stacks, putting me in a unique position to operate as a "bridge" between both stacks, contributing regularly to both.

I was the first technical hire at 5by5, where I established the engineering department. I was responsible for growing and managing the engineering team, and ensuring software projects were completed on-time and within budget. I often collaborated with business development in sales meetings, crafted scopes of work, and provided pricing and estimation. One of the key skills of this job was understanding the business needs of our clients, helping guide them to the correct technical solution for their needs, and then being able to lead our team in implementing that for them.In addition to ongoing client work I was contributing to, I was regularly building and improving upon our internal tooling that made our team more productive and more efficient with every new project.When I started, we were regularly selling 4 and low 5-figure software projects, and by the time I left we were regularly bidding on and winning 6-figure software projects

As a software engineer at Paramore, I worked closely with our design team to create completely custom websites for our clients on time and within budget. I also helped create and maintain the server infrastructure for many client web properties, including a theme park with a live app and an eCommerce store for a regional cellular network.While at Paramore, I created an iOS app that allowed the public to control the color of our company's sign on the Nashville skyline.
