Graduate Student Instructor for two semesters of AOSS-102: Extreme Weather

Planned, managed, and led a week long physic-centric science summer camp designed to inspire middle-school girls to further advance their interest and passion in science. Planned short lectures, physics demonstrations, and hands-on design/build projects (e.g. building model rocks and soldering circuitry to create autonomous toy cars). Managed weekly budget of ~$3000 and recruited graduate student volunteers to serve as counselors.

I worked in Dr. Thomas Kutter's research group studying neutrino physics. With data from the T2K long baseline neutrino experiment in Japan, I developed programs to compare arrival times at the Near Detector are compared with event times and interaction energies at the Far Detector (Super-Kamiokande 300km away) using probability density functions to determine the time of flight of the neutrinos. As a summer Research Experience for Uundergraduates(REU) intern, I worked with Dr. Thomas Kutter and Dr. William Metcalf measuring the charge-current(CC) neutrino cross sections on iron, using data collected from the near detector of T2K. I implemented Monte Carlo simulations to determine parameters, which could distinguish CC interactions from other types, and applied them to actual beam line and detector data.
