I have been actively involved with the local Fire Department as observed in my experience history. I have been able to expand my knowledge through various titles and roles within the operation of a government entity. As treasurer, I was able to gain valuable experience in maintaining an accurate checkbook record and inventory ledger to present to the state auditor for review in a meeting. Additionally, I have improved my ability to be able to work with people, as we work with the public daily and often in stressful situations. Therefore, I have been able to nearly perfect my skill on how to work with people who are in distress and calm them down which gives me experience on how to work with disgruntled customers, employees, etc. In my Sophomore Year of my Undergraduate at Saint Vincent, I became exposed to the operational excellence program and immediately knew that I had found something I have a passion for. The methodology of improving processes, reducing inventories, and instilling new standards of Continuous Improvement into organizations to benefit the end user or customer inspires me to pursue a career in Continuous Improvement or Operational Excellence. Not only influencing processes to provide a better product to consumers, but influencing employees to look at problems through a different lens and ultimately influence employee thinking in a positive way. I believe enhancing processes is very important and something I have become passionate about as I look to make an impact on organizations in the future to positively influence standards and empower employees to exhibit their creativity and imagination to further build a positive and efficient work environment.
