Much of my military work now includes my involvement in functions at the State and National level of the military. While most of my recent work is often tailored for the military audience, I have years of relevant experience in the civil sector as well.During Vigilant Guard FY15, I served as PIO for the 1-211th ARB and had a chance to put years of training into practice in a large scale training event that tied together numerous entities across not only the State but our Western Region. This was a scenario driven event that tested the Utah Guard and other entities and was a successful proof of concept of how we would work together in the event of a natural disaster.I have worked closely with civilian media and press organizations in different capacities for a number of events - including at the national and international level.  Have experience in writing press releases, articles, executive summaries. Worked closely with Vertical Flying Magazine and Rotor Craft Pro to promote the Guard in action.  End result was our unit being featured in three magazine publications by Rotor Craft Pro (October 2014, January & March 2015) and Vertical Magazine (April 2020) as well as some YouTube videos. Coauthor of many of these stories.Being in the military, I know what it means to work in a deadline driven environment and I bank highly on my ability to create relevant and timely material of events as they happen. My training and experience in this capacity has provided me with the ability to strategically develop not just written documents – but a wide array of media – and monitor and cover multiple topics of interest which are sure to invoke interest. This includes, but not limited to, managing current and future operations at the Battalion and Brigade (Corporate) Level, senior Tactical Operations (TACOPS/AMS) Officer, PR (Personnel Recovery), Standardization Instructor Pilot (SP/IFE), and Unit Historian/Public Affairs Rep. As a senior Instructor Pilot, I have years of experience training and mentoring other aviators and manage a complex flying hour program. As the prior senior Warrant for the Battalion, I handled all new aviator accessions and continue to assist with their professional development; I am currently the CCWO for Army Aviation in Utah.As Guardsmen, we serve a dual role: to protect the Nation and the State. I attended the Basic Inland Search & Rescue Course (BISC) in July 2014, with an emphasis in Guard support of Domestic Operations (DOMOPS). Lessons learned have been incorporated into our unit in regards to our State responsibilities in the event of a natural disaster or other events that involve the Guard in its State role. I enjoyed being a council member and part of the Executive Committee of the SLC Arts Council - always great to give back to the local city and county.
