I earned my Bachelors of Science Degree from Lindenwood University in 2008, winning the Robert Mulock Award for environmental stewardship and excellence in 2007. I was hired out of college as an industrial wastewater technician for the Monsanto Company from 2008 to 2010 and again in 2011 where I coordinated bioreactor studies for the treatment of Roundup with several countries imperative to the production of the world’s leading weed killer, including Brazil, Belgium and Argentina. During this time in the wastewater industry, I participated in culturing bacteria to target specific chemicals and performed tests including Total Organic Carbon (TOC), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and settling tests. I was also tasked with performing High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) testing. From 2010 to 2011, I was relocated to the Metabolite Analytical Platform where I tested plant tissues tissues for the presence of certain metabolites. I worked my way through college, gaining construction experience working for T.J. Wies Contracting, one of the largest drywall subcontractors in St. Louis. My responsibilities included ordering and gathering materials and running various types of construction equipment. During this time, I also enlisted in the Air Force where I was originally a fuel systems mechanic on the F-15 and B-2 but over time became an officer and re-trained into Bioenvironmental Engineering at the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM). During this time, I trained in hazard identification and how to mitigate hazards as well as ensuring base-wide safety for programs such as Water Vulnerability, Respiratory Protection, Water Testing and Air Sampling. I am also the base Radiation Safety Officer. We trained extensively in emergency response and identification procedures for chemical releases, radiation threats and biological contaminants as well as the use of SCBA and Level A emergency response gear. I have attended multiple emergency response trainings, including an emergency capstone event at the Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, Alabama. It is all of this that has led to my current position as the VP of Safety and Training at Geeding Construction where I work with the most talented pipeline professionals in the country.
