I am currently a senior Mechanical Engineering major at Iowa State University and will be graduating in December of 2016. At Iowa State University, I teach an introductory mechanical engineering course for freshmen. I instruct the class twice per week and assist students with the transition into their first year of mechanical engineering at the university level. I also lead a small group for my college ministry as well as organize and oversee tours of the College of Engineering once per week. All of this has greatly developed my leadership skills, aided my public speaking ability, and challenged me to problem solve and think on my feet.I previously held am seven-month summer/fall co-op at Hood Packaging in a plant in Omaha, Nebraska, which specialized in the production of multiwall paper bags. While there, I worked in both product development and process improvement. In product development, I tested incoming raw materials for quality control and ran a multitude of tests including longevity testing in a climate-controlled environment on both current and future products. In the process improvement department, I used Solidworks to design and implement several small process improvements, and I assisted senior engineers with larger projects such as configuration and the design of a million-dollar efficiency improvement. I also collaborated with engineers for process improvement testing and statistical analysis.
Listed skills include Solidworks, Autodesk Software, Microsoft Office, Matlab, and 5 others.
