As the Embedded Engineering Manager, I lead a dedicated team of 7 firmware engineers while actively contributing to the development of cutting edge power electronics, controls, and safety critical solutions.

I develop Embedded Software in C for power conversion, communications, and safety protections. I am daily in the lab, working on prototypes. I like working hands-on in a dynamic environment. I am very skilled at debugging both software and hardware, and have brought up several prototypes. I have also led Alpha's first Functional Safety project, certified to UL60730-1 and UL1998. While at Alpha I have led our adoption of Agile methodologies, which has improved the responsiveness of our team to ever changing requirements. To facilitate this effort I acquired a CSM certificate. I have also helped with the hiring process, interviewing candidates.

This was initially a Senior Design project at the University of California. After quickly designing a proof of concept portable microwave oven using solid state LDMOS transistors, we incorporated and sought funding while doing additional development.For this project, I had sole responsibility for power engineering and programming aspects of the design. My Power Engineering responsibilities included Lithium Ion charging, BMS, Buck Converters, Buck-Boost Converters, and Linear Regulators. My programming responsibilities included the user interface, automatic biasing of the RF amplifier mosfets using feedback control, temperature sensing and limits, and power management.

At Geek Squad I installed a wide variety of audio visual and home electronics. This included mounting TVs, running wiring for data and surround sound, home automation, security, and computer help.My most important skills at this job, however, were not my technical skills, but rather my soft skills. I quickly gathered customers who would request me by name, and came up with several innovations which were picked up by other team members to become standard practice. My favorite part of this job was educating clients about the best solutions for them. This allowed people to realize that technology could be accessible to them, improving enjoyment of their purchases. While sales was not my primary role, I would always help clients fulfill unmet needs.

As a Nuclear Electrician's Mate, I trained in the operation and maintenance of the motors, generators, and AC/DC distribution systems for naval nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers. The most important thing I learned in the Navy was how to work as a team mate under any conditions. Success can only be achieved as part of a team, and only if the entire team succeeds. The Navy taught me how to integrate seamlessly and efficiently with others. We often faced adverse conditions, but through a culture of teamwork we were always able to thrive.
