I sit at the intersection of the business, consumer, design, and technology. Product management requires intense planning, prioritization, and decision-making in order to build and ship the right things at the right time. I have to make tough calls, even when it’s not the popular opinion. I have to be flexible and willing to negotiate. I have to build solid relationships. I have to lead and influence without authority. Above all, I have to be the voice of the consumer and somehow, some way, find a balance with demanding business objectives. Is it exhausting? The Director of Information Technology routinely maintains, manages, updates, and improves a website for the Student Activities Board (SAB). SAB is University of Kentucky's largest student organization and has a $1 million annual budget to bring enriching and entertaining events to campus that fits the interests and needs of our diverse student body.The Director of Information Technology maintains the official SAB website and data systems, including both coding and design work, page creation and updates, and regular maintenance of both. The Director analyzes and records website traffic data via Google Analytics. The Director of IT is also responsible for creating forms through Google for internal and external board use, updating office technology, and managing the web and SAB server, mailing lists, and board email accounts through Google Apps.
