I am the tech lead of Snowtrail, a feature that allows internal developers & release validation tools to replay & simulate Snowflake customer workloads in order to test new deployments & configurations.

I acted as the sole technical architect for an organization of ~100 engineers across multiple geos (PNW, Atlanta, and India). This involved an ever-shifting balance of hands-on coding, prototyping, industry research, driving design reviews, finding deeper alignments between otherwise disconnected projects, engagement in customer onboardings, and presenting & collaborating with all kinds of stakeholders for any problem that needed to be solved.

I was the Engineering Manager for Azure relational database billing (SQL DB, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MySQL, and Synapse Analytics). During this time I rapidly scaled out my team from 1 to 7 engineers while we were under significant pressure of live site incident load, technical debt, onboarding of new products and SKUs, and government contracts.Under my direction, my team migrated the entire Azure relational database billing system to a new platform that reduced latency from 14 hours down to 15 minutes and significantly increased reliability which had a noticeable impact on Azure SQL DB revenue. We lit up this replat extremely carefully and smoothly, with zero resulting customer-reported incidents.I was extremely hands-on with the day-to-day technical problem solving during this project while also giving my team room to experiment and grow. Concurrently with this project, I held the team together through major organizational and technical roadmap changes with zero attrition.

Azure SQL DB control plane teamManaged Instance- Technical lead of Hyperscale SKU prototype for Managed Instance. Led a team of 5 engineers to bring Hyperscale technology to Managed Instance. This was an extremely challenging project due to the Hyperscale's flexible scalability goals being completely at odds with the tightly sandboxed and locked down infrastructure of Managed Instance. This involved close collaboration with the Managed Instance team in Belgade, Serbia.- A part of my implementation for HS Managed Instance was spun off and released as a separate product, Managed Instance Pool.- I co-presented at Microsoft Ignite in Nov 2019 and staffed the SQLDB showroom boothElastic Jobs (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/sql-database/elastic-jobs-overview):- Technical lead, responsible for overall product roadmap, design, and development. Led a small team of engineers over the course of almost 2 years of development.- In constant close communication with private preview customers and implemented several challenging but highly customer-demanded features, including multi-step jobs, geo failover, and controlled max degree of parallelism.- Designed and implemented large surface area of T-SQL API (stored procedures and views) and REST API.Azure SQL DB command module for Azure CLI v2:- Lead designer, developer, and maintainer with obsession to detail on consistency and ergonomics.Azure SQL DB APIs and clients:- Implemented an internal development process so that engineers across the Azure SQL DB team can generate high-quality Azure-compliant Swagger and client libraries for their APIs, which has both sped up new feature development and greatly increased the quality of client libraries. - Ongoing subject matter expert for Azure SQL DB REST APIs, including design, development, client libraries, and client tools (PowerShell & CLI v2).Vcore databases and pools- Contributed to control plane changes, including REST API and internal provisioning workflow
