Work within a diverse team of engineers in support of mission critical facilities and data center operations including associated project oversight, racking and stacking of servers, cabling and labeling servers, data entry, monitoring and responding to alerts around environmental stability to include mechanical systems, electrical systems, and environmental conditions. Responsible for the configuration and deployment of UPSs, environmental monitoring devices and remote management devices across all regions.Additional responsibilities include working within various information services departments in a collaborative nature to deploy infrastructure to new offices across all regions (travel up to 15%).Responsible for supporting the team's 24/7/365 on-call rotation. - Responsible for the installation, design, and maintenance of US Customs and Border Protection’s Legacy and Mission Critical Support Platform (MCSP) data center’s infrastructure cabling and hardware - Apply training, experience and knowledge while exercising discretion and independent judgment to successfully accomplish work - Sustain connectivity and performance of the 65,000+ cable count, high density 10 gigabit fiber optic and category 6 data center environment - Execute large scale inventory control efforts to ensure adequate material stock within budgetary cycles - Perform and manage analytical tasks and assignments related to CBP and their customers’ Information Technology operations to include: + The oversight of all physical layer change orders and data center infrastructure expansion + Streamlining productive team efforts to produce timely responses to daily troubleshooting request + Active participation in the planning and design of future cabling programs and projects + Participate in the change control and scheduling to move production equipment to new physical cabinets, power, cabling, and raceway + Running all new cable in NCC (Network Communications Center) for new circuits, servers, routers, etc. - Assisted in stabilizing 3,000 sq ft of raised floor system - Experience in running numerous types of cable including: fiber (multi-mode and single-mode), Ethernet, V.35, RS232, and amphenol - Experience in terminating cat3, cat5, and cat6 Ethernet cable, as well as LC and SC fiber cable
