As a research assistant, I synthesized novel crystalline materials from raw elements, and applied x-ray crystallography techniques to better understand their molecular structure. This required querying a massive database of known materials to confirm or eliminate possible contaminants or mixed phases. Following this, I utilized the FullProf Suite to methodically solve the exact crystal lattice of each material. I also used Python and a handful of libraries such as NumPy, SymPy, and Matplotlib to concisely display the results of my analysis for use in presentations and publications.

During this research fellowship, I created general-use data visualization programs for a number of graduate students and professors in Professor Arun Bansil's Theoretical Condensed Matter group. I wrote these programs in MATLAB, Python, and C. I also consulted with group members on a variety of new research ideas in the field and co-created a program designed to convert data from the group's calculations into a more versatile form for further analysis.

Wakefield, Massachusetts

In this role, my primary responsibilities were to manage a digital library of electrical components and to route complex webs of electrical connections onto printed circuit boards. My library management responsibilities included the construction of new layered 3D models to add to the database. During my time at Newgrange, I learned to use three different PCB design programs. I also created and edited a number of electrical schematics.
