About Jared Stevens

I love working with anything related to technology. I enjoy tinkering with new products and figuring out how they work.This has led me to my current position at Adobe.I work for a special team in consulting that creates software solutions that help our customers better understand or use the data that they collect. Typically this means building automated integrations with other Adobe Marketing Cloud products or third party vendors. It also means building automated analysis tools that give our customers better insight into how people are using their website.The volume of data that I deal with requires that I use a distributed and scalable solution. Currently, that mostly involves Hadoop and its ecosystem of frameworks. I'm always on the lookout for other tools that can improve efficiency and value for my customers.In my free time, I enjoy building custom projects. This includes my own personal web-based streaming music player, gas mileage tracker, Ham radio repeater locator, and other small knick-knacks. At some point, I'd like to start playing with some of the new home automation tools that are coming out now.I also enjoy riding my Harley, backpacking, and playing video games.

    I worked on a team of 6 people to maintain and improve the company's customer center, registration web service, and licensing system.The Customer Center was used by customers to create support tickets, download software, get access to license keys, and find support documentation.The company's applications would connect to the registration web service to verify their license check for and download any updates. This was used by the enterprise Suse OSes to register and patch themselves.The licensing system was used to issue license keys, create new licenses, and had integrations with the customer center and registration web service.All of this was built with Java and ran on an Oracle database. We had some systems running on JBOSS 4 and others on IBM WebSphere 7. The systems were tied together using a JMS ESB.

    I worked on custom solutions for Adobe Analytics customers. This usually involved moving data between our platform and other platforms.One of the more exciting things I built while there was a dashboard/reporting platform that could be used to give a customer's leadership better insight into how well their online business was performing based on their Adobe Analytics data. This solution was built using PHP, MySQL, Adobe AIR, Flex, and AS3. The server-side portion involved creating a REST-based web service that would provide data to the dashboard client. It also involved connecting to SOAP and REST-based web services to fetch the data for use in reporting.
