Hoodoo Ski Area

The largest gatherings of Telemark Skiers on the West-Coast which is celebrating it's 20th year at Hoodoo in 2025. What started at one of the smaller hills in Oregon has become one of the biggest skiing events on the West Coast(from the Rockies west). Really fun event with everything from lesson's, demo's,every company with Telemark, Randonee/A.T., splitboards, gear and races. Plus we have the best prizes and almost everyone walks home with something(which is not easy when 300+ people show up for the party). Though this job is not new to me, it is new once again. I spent most of my summers doing this for my family's business and excited to once again fill this position during the summer months filling a need. In the end, it's all about family and ensuring the people who live in our rentals enjoy their living experience while staying in our homes. Being born and raised in the ski industry, Curated is an amazing concept that opens the doors for experts in fields to sell the product they already love. It's a perfect idea of bring passionate people together to curate shopping carts for their customers who otherwise might aimlessly buy something that isn't a goof fit for their need and do it either in their spare time or as a full-time job. It's all commission based with tips so it's simple and easy to use. The only thing missing is company culture and leadership which know and understand the value of taking care of the people who make the business possible. It is a company that values education over experience so if you are a business investor, keep your eye on this company as the concept will make a great investment at some point when it comes up for sale. I took a run-down warehouse, both outside and in, from what looked like a bone-yard on the outside and a dirty old building on the inside to a true retail shop. I set goals while developing a business plan and a proper P&L statement, analyzed data, motivated the staff and created training opportunities for the retail arm of the store. Designed workout centers for large profile customers and won accounts, managed customer complaints, analyzed budgets via Quickbooks for a more balanced budget, and determine ways to streamline and improve the sales process in retail, commercial and online business.I designed and created the online image from the ground up with new logo's, color scheme and tag-lines which fit the business model and goals.

Why start a business which is solely focused on Handmade Skis, you ask? It starts with family and a passion for skiing, but this rabbit hole goes much deeper. Let's start from the beginning...As the founder of Handmade Skis, it is my passion to shine a light on the craft ski industry. Born and raised in a third generation family ski business I wanted to build something that my own Son would not only be proud of but something, one day, he could take and make his own.
