Led a team to develop a stable microfluidics platform for the detection of target DNA using Ion-Sensitive Field Effect Transistors (ISFET) on a CMOS chip. The group was multidisciplinary with a combination of chemists, molecular biologists, and electrochemists, with regular project collaborations with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. We developed several novel techniques, including new surface chemistry applications, the first repeatable real-time pH-PCR detections down to the tens of nanoliters scale, and new electrode chloridisation manufacturing processes and applications.

Started up a laboratory specializing in the development of molecular diagnostics, PCR, assay design, sample purification, and nucleic acid extraction on a variety of clinical sample types: pleural fluid, synovial fluid, whole blood, cerebrospinal fluid, pus, and nasopharyngeal swabs/washes.
