The military taught me that only shared purpose and teamwork could lead to victory. As a junior officer, I learned that each problem requires critical thinking and collaboration. As a senior officer, I realized our people, ethos, and culture were the true key to organizational success. My operational tours to Yugoslavia and Afghanistan provided me insight into the importance of diversity and inclusion. However, the most important lesson I discovered was true leaders build capabilities in others, remove barriers, and champion their success.As a senior leader at the best airport in the world, I leveraged these learnings and a diverse set of business skills to lead various teams, including plan and program integration, capital planning, business performance, and large operations teams. However, my most significant contribution in these roles has been my team’s employee engagement. My teams have consistently ranked above organizational average and in the top quartile. Outside of the office, you can find me falling off (crashing) my mountain biking, quietly kayaking and camping, hanging out with my wife and kids, and I still serve in the Canadian Armed Forces as a reservist.
