My job role is IT Administrator/Business Advisor at Access to Business.I am currently working on two projects, one being a programme called BBO (Building Better Opportunities) Bridges and another called Young Business Matters. Bridges is a self-employment project that aims to support people who are unemployed and consider themselves to have significant barriers into self-employment. Young Business Matters is a project I am currently running that is aimed at 18-24 year-olds to address the rising rate of unemployment within Wolverhampton by helping young people to explore self-employment. In addition, although I have mainly supported people with self-employment at Access to Business, I used to work on ESF (European Social Funded) employment projects where I would support clients into general employment too.Throughout all of this experience, I have helped Economically Inactive people to start job searching and even start a form of employment whether that be general or self-employment.I have just recently completed my level 2 IAG qualification to be able to provide higher quality information, advice or guidance to people!

At university, my experience was mainly gathered from projects I was engaged with and gained mainly skills that I can take forward in future roles such as:Project Management - micromanaging colleagues / task delegation / project planning / conflict resolution / schedule keeping / meeting deadlines / working with key stakeholders / training / negotiation / execution of products and tasks.Managing a team of 4 where we were required to design and build an application for stakeholders wanting new students to feel more welcomed to the university. We had 12 weeks to compete this task which required me to organise our plan of execution as well as work with the teams strengths and weaknesses, throughout the duration of the project in order to produce a successful product based upon the brief we were given. I was able to conduct review meetings on a weekly basis, produce tracking tools for each team member, create documentation that was inline with legislation/product proposal and reports of progression, ensure optimal mental/physical health for all team members throughout the project and establish a strong social but professional bond between the team so that the project could be executed to it's full potential. Programming - using web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, AJAX and XML to build web projects such as a professional website for a fictional coffee shop called Chollerton' s Coffee. This project was a 12 week project where I was required to prove my programming skills to execute a professional website based upon the theory learnt in our lectures. I used IDE's such as PHPStorm, WebStorm and VS Code throughout these types of projects. In addition, using platforms such as GitHub to manage version control and continuous integration throughout projects.

I used to fix, clean, install software onto computers to meet client needs both independently and in teams dependant upon the type of task given. Apart of this role required to keep track of my personal caseload as well as stock management within the facility to ensure that I could complete my tasks effectively. In addition, as this was an apprenticeship, I was learning about the fundamentals of computing, information technologies and business management throughout the course in a classroom environment. My typical week would be 3 days in the workshop, applying my theoretical knowledge learnt within the classroom to a practical setting. The remaining 2 days were in the classroom, writing assignments and learning.
