In November 2021, I raised money for the Movember foundation by doing photoshoots for people and donating all proceeds to the foundation. As the clients shared their photos, I began to receive more inquiries regarding photoshoots. I continued to do photoshoots and gained experience and got better at the craft. The enjoyment of the process from taking the photos to editing them and the satisfaction received from happy clients was my first step toward creating my own business. Alongside my career as a Civil Engineer, I have been running my own photography and videography business where I provide my services for events, portrait sessions and creative sessions passionately. I capture small events solo or as part of a team for large events such as weddings or concerts. For my personal clients I determine scope, explain my services and provide cost estimates through clear communication prior to the events. During the event I act proactively and capture the important moments and people of the day to the best of my ability. During the events I am often required to also act as a co-ordinator between other vendors and clients to ensure timelines are followed and I am present for all special moments during the event. Post event, I edit the content in a timely manner and issue to the clients. In my time managing my business, I have managed to create new opportunities with new clients and also built relationships though positive interactions and delivering quality products which resulted in ongoing business. The main driving factor for me in doing this is that the photographs I take end up being gateways to important memories for the clients. I first realized this when I did a photoshoot for a co-worker and his very young family and realized that these photos will be an anchor for that day for the rest of his life. It fills me with pride to see those photos displayed on his work desk.
