About Jasmine Etheridge
With nine years of experience teaching Mathematics in the UK and a strong passion for fostering a positive learning environment, I am eager to bring my skills and dedication to my future school.During my role as Head of Faculty for Mathematics and Numeracy at Houlton School in Rugby, UK, I have had the opportunity to develop the mathematics department at a brand-new secondary school. This has required me to be innovative with the curriculum and to develop resources and assessments to ensure all pupils make good progress in mathematics and this was showcased in my recent Ofsted Deep Dive. Although this most recent role has focused on teaching pupils aged 11-14, as the school grows, my previous roles have given me experience teaching a wider range of pupils, aged 11-18, and ensuring they achieve their GCSE and A-Level qualifications. My approach has always been student-centered, focusing on making maths accessible, enjoyable, and engaging for all learners. I have developed and implemented innovative curricula that not only align with the National Curriculum but also go beyond it to allow pupils to appreciate mathematics in all forms.I am an active participant in the local mathematical education community, supporting other teachers and schools in providing the best education for their pupils. I have worked with the Origin Maths Hub to develop my own practice of Teaching for Mastery, as well as leading professional development in continuity between primary and secondary school, and supporting other schools interested in mixed attainment teaching. Additionally, I have led professional development workshops for my colleagues, sharing best practices and fostering a collaborative learning environment.I hold two master’s degrees: an MSci in Mathematics from the University of Birmingham and an MA in Professional Education from the University of Warwick. I obtained QTS following my PGCE at the University of Warwick in 2015. I continuously ensure that I am developing as a teacher and look forward to obtaining the necessary accreditation to teach in Victoria, as well as staying current with educational best practices.I am moving to Melbourne this September. Relocating presents an exciting opportunity for both personal and professional growth. I am confident that my experience, combined with my enthusiasm for teaching, will allow me to make a meaningful contribution to the schools of Melbourne.
