As a native resident of Panama City, FL I have been in education since the beginning of my professional career. I started as a substitute with Escambia County while in college at the University of West Florida and then began to work as a paraprofessional at a Title I school, Northside Elementary, the last two years that I was in college. While there I worked with grades K-5 on their reading and mathematics skills. Upon graduation in December of 2015, I began work at Everitt Middle School, another Title I school, as a 7th-grade Mathematics teacher. I also taught 6-8th grade students math which included advanced students, on-grade level students, and intensive students. In October of 2018, Category 5 Hurricane Michael devastated our County and our school and we merged with a local high school as a 6-12 center. Since November 2018 I have been at Rutherford High School and have continued to serve as a middle grades mathematics teacher, teaching sixth-grade for the last three years. In addition to my classroom responsibilities, I have also served in leadership positions at both schools. I have been an active member of the leadership team for the last five years of my teaching career to include the following responsibilities: Math Department Head, ASPIRE Team Leader, and the MTSS Behavior team member. Additionally, I have gained valuable experience as a head coach for both Middle and High School sports teams. The Girls Basketball program at my current school has experienced tremendous success under my leadership, and the team and program is the best it has been in over a decade. Having played as a student on the same team, I have great familiarity with the progress of the program. In this capacity, I have also gained experience in building relationships with Division I college coaches, as two of my current sophomores are Division I prospects. For the 2020-2021 season, I was awarded both the District and County Coach of the Year. Additionally, I served as the Girls Track & Field Coach for the past five years, and I have coached an athlete who won second place at state in her freshman year. In both of these positions, I have prided myself in running good and clean programs, with respectable reputations in and around the community. I love working with the students both in school and outside of school. It helps to strengthen my relationships with them. I am very flexible, goal-oriented, organized, and have proven leadership.
