Health Care and the Medical Practice has always intrigued me from a young age. As a child, I was never afraid to go to the doctors. Instead, I was intrigued and yearned to understand "why". Since then, I've yearned to understand the human body and its functions, and, how to mend it if it were to stop behaving normally. That is why, at the completion of my high school education, I decided to study Biomedical Science at Griffith University. As I was unsure where my passions were, I determined that taking Biomedical Science would result in a deeper understanding of the basis of human health, allowing me to build and explore my interests. At first pursuing a career in medicine was what I strived for, but the competitive nature of the applications meant that I was turned down at the final stage. I began looking for other interests and dabbled in Infection Prevention and Control (graduating with a graduate certificate) but still unsure as to what I wanted to do as a career. Upon browsing multitudes of masters programs the Masters of diagnostic genomics piqued my interest. Experience in this field during my undergraduate degree encouraged me to pursue this interest, as I remembered keenly enjoying this area of study.I have already engaged in the Health industry by securing employment as a Pharmacy Assistant at Giant Chemist. This opportunity has led to a wealth of experience pertaining not only to the basics of Pharmacy, but also in social skills. Customer service is the main focus at Giant Chemist, and as a staff member in the front line, I'm always prepared to assist customers in any way possible. I strive to be of the best possible help to customers by attending available training programs and updating my knowledge of the store and the products we stock. Effective time management has allowed me to successfully implement university and work life without one being detrimental to the other. As a human rights activist, I wish to apply my skills to improve the life of others. I am particularly interested in the treatment of refugees, particularly since the Border Force Act implemented by the Australian Government. No human being should be deprived of basic access to health care based on their social status, and it is my dream to be part of the change to a better future.
