I have been seeking an opportunity as this for a while, and I think my background and your requirements may be a good match. I feel that it would be a great opportunity for me to continue evolving in the world of higher education. I am currently a Senior Academic Advisor at Austin Community College. Part of my job consists of providing orientation presentations to groups of students twice a week. These presentations are typically 2 hours long and are very interactive. I am also a coordinator for the College Prep program at the Eastview Campus. College Prep provides me the opportunity to host workshops for first time college students during their orientation week and during their finals week. I am an active mentor for the Male Leadership Program. We host monthly mentoring meetings discussing career exploration, time management, and personal enrichment.I have also been selected to serve on many committees and other opportunities while being an academic advisor. I am a 2015-2016 graduate of the ACC Leadership Academy which helped me grow professionally and actively set long-term goals. I served as the transfer academy representative for the ACC- Eastview Campus from 2014- 2016. In 2016, I was selected to represent all of ACC’s academic advisors while serving on the Advising and Assessment Committee. Being a member of the committee provided me the opportunity to develop and recommend college-wide assessment, advising and placement policies and procedures. I have recently been selected to the 2018-2020 Supervisor’s Series Cohort. I am also a certified InsideTrack Student Coach and was selected as a mentor to fellow advisors.
