I completed a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at North Carolina State University. I am currently an engineer/tech manager at Wolfspeed. We build semiconductors in a class 100 cleanroom. I own several processes in the manufacturing of LEDs, power devices, and advanced RF devices. Each process comes with unique quality issues. I have spent these recent years troubleshooting and improving those issue for metal evaporators, metal PVD, ASAMs, and high temperature bonders. I've been able to sharpen my structured problem-solving skills and cross-functional team leadership during this time. This requires presenting detailed technical presentations, performing controlled experiments, ROI studies, and following up with high-level communications. As a tech manager, my goal is to lead by example while creating a culture of high quality. My second, and just as important, management goal is to help each technician reach their individual goals by using the SMART method with detailed action plans. A challenge is finding the right balance between pushing them and pushing them too much, still working on that. I often implement methods I have learned taking professional development courses like the 7 Habits, 5 Choices, Crucial Conversations, Crucial Accountability, and Crucial influence to train the team on our quality systems. Teaching the techs the process helps them be better troubleshooters while reaching our organizational goals.
