About Jason Hoffmeier, Ms, Lssbb

As a Data Scientist and Systems engineer, it has been my goal to continuously apply the right skills to the working world. While obtaining my Master of Science, I was able to work as a Systems Engineer and Data Analyst at Harlem Hospital. I was presented with projects by my supervisor. These projects were problems that the hospital was having; quality-related issues, supply chain-related issues, etc. I was tasked withdefining the key principles of these problems, primarily through gathering and measuring the relevant data, analyzing said data through statistical means, and through the proper data analysis completed, present the right improvement protocols to stakeholders and staff members alike. This form of data analysis and statistical understanding was done using the Lean/Six Sigma methodology.The NYC Data Science Academy helped merge the skills and experience that I have learned whileworking at the hospital. With my understanding on how to work with data, I was able to apply all of thatto projects that I did throughout the 12-week Bootcamp. Those projects include in-depth video gameanalysis with the use of Python; producing a Shiny app on sports betting analysis using historical datarelated to tennis statistics, all done in R, and developing an app based on United States natality ratesand infant mortality rates through the Center for Disease Control data, which aims to educate the motheron the proper procedures to take when having a child, the data was cleaned in Python and analyzed inR.You can find all information on the projects at https://nycdatascience.com/blog/author/jasonhoffmeier/ and the code at https://github.com/jhoffme1.Along with all the data knowledge, and statistical understanding that I have developed, thebiggest skill that I have learned is how to properly communicate to stakeholders and staff membersalike. Seeing as I was the guy who had all of the knowledge on the root causes of the problem, I had toclearly explain to people what the problem was, what the key issues were that aggravated the problem,and how to fix it. Out of all the experience that I have gained, the soft skill of communicating clearly tocolleagues and piers holds as one of the biggest.I want to continue pushing these skills to the test, whether it be in Health Care, or any industry, improving upon these skills is what I always set my mind to accomplishing.
