I am an AI and blockchain entrepreneur, impact investor, and economics and innovation writer, who over the past ten years has been based in Indonesia, Singapore, and China.At present I am the founder of JAIdeate, a software development company focusing on the intersection between AI, blockchain, and the metaverse (AR/VR and web3). JAIdeate develops applications to do various forms of generative media for the entertainment industry, as well as financial applications for crytocurrencies using AI-driven onchain analysis and social media sentiment analysis. At the R&D phase we are exploring how data will be displayed in AR using generative AI on locally-running LLM and other AI components. Previously, my work in blockchain was as co-founder and strategic lead of the Genaro Network, an innovative public chain with a decentralized storage ecosystem.Before that, as an impact investor, in 2013 I founded LOHAUS, one of China's first social enterprises and the only coworking space to be dedicated to urban sustainability. In 2008, I put many of my ideas about the future of China's economy into a book, Supertrends of Future China, which was published during the Beijing Olympics and co-written with Dr. James Yuann. In 2012, I published China's Economic Supertrends, published in Chinese as 中国超级经济, and coined the phrase new China normal to describe the changing China economy. In 2015， I wrote LOHAUS - The Lifestyle of Health and Urban Sustainability (乐豪斯:健康和城市可持续生活哲学), and in 2017 I released my latest work on China's government policy, called The Man, the Plan, the Dream, the first book in the China 4.0 series. In addition I've been teaching courses in China's economy and other topics since 2005 to undergraduate, MBA and EMBA students.I got my career start as a consultant and project manager in the emerging dotcom-era Internet sector, and then finished my MBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business in 2004 with an exchange program at CEIBS - the China Europe International Business School. I speak, read, and write Mandarin, Japanese, and Indonesian thanks to a 30-year career spanning the Asia Pacific, from where I grew up on the west coast of Canada, to Tokyo, Seattle, Shanghai, Singapore, and Jakarta.

In June 2013 I established LOHAUS, a Shanghai-based social enterprise dedicated to ideas and action around health and urban sustainability. As a social enterprise, we reinvested the majority of our profits on social impact initiatives such as improving energy efficiency and reducing waste in cities and proved that social impact could also be profitable. As one of the first companies in Shanghai to formally adopt a social enterprise business model, we were the first coworking space in China to put sustainability as its mission, leading the fight and inspiring those who visited LOHAUS on issues such as indoor air quality, generating your own energy, inclusive finance and blockchain, and dietary health. Along the way, we hosted dozens of events on those and related themes and provided a multifunctional venue for events, conference rooms for meetings, and co-working desks for professionals. We operated the space until 2016 with a successful exit. Consulting and related services are still offered.
