Contracted through Data Meeple Consulting to assist with asset management, ITIL processes, and operational efficiency.✔️ Data Centre Migration: Investigated Production infrastructure and mapped out environment, from the Customers that work with Gemstone, to the URLs that those customers use, to the applications and servers they connect to, right down to the SQL Server databases that are support them. Planned a full migraiton of all assets between Data Centres,and prepared a reusable plan for all future migrations. Executed the migration with the in-house team with no unplanned outages and no impact to Customers. ✔️ Change Management Project: Developed a high level Change Management plan, to be implemented in FreshService. Produced documentation outlining typical Change types (Standard, Normal and Emergency), as well as specialized Changes specific to the development team. Investigated and implemented mapping between FreshService and Azure DevOps, using third party plug-in.

Contracted through Data Meeple Consulting to enhance operational efficiency, security, and availability of IT assets. Assess infrastructure and repair issues with configuration, backups, and maintenance plans. Oversee Infosys contracting team comprised of 3 onshore and 3 offshore database administrators. Uphold all SOX requirements.✔️ Database Team Handover: Cleaned up in-house SQL management system, eliminating 200+ decommissioned SQL servers and correcting outdated contact info to create dynamic inventory of all applications and their associated servers and teams.• Initiated investigation of SQL server estate to ensure all servers are accounted for and included in queries, improving monitoring across all servers and enabling growth metrics to be tracked and pulled from central server.• Installed updates on 170 SQL servers with minimal downtime or disruption.✔️ Petroleum Separation: Lead the DBA team tasked with separating Petroleum SQL Servers from Enterprise BHP SQL Servers.• Created over 100 pages of documentation outlining common practices, accountibilities, and tasks for managing the Petroleum Estate.• Supplimented documentation with 15 hours of recorded video going through the documentation.• Designed the end-to-end process for migrating databases to new servers.

Turned around performance at poorly documented Potash environment which encompassed 12 individual unmonitored servers. Conducted swift assessment to prioritize outstanding issues and led mission critical updates and repairs. Rebuilt servers from scratch, debugged stored procedures, got monitoring and security back on track, and embedded best practices at every turn. Maintained optimal database performance while directing a variety of projects, including… ✔️ DxConsole/DxEnterprise Project: Upon completion of cost/benefit analysis (DxEnterprise vs SQL Enterprise licensing), configured and built a 4 node DxEnterprise cluster with 9 initial instances in SQL 2012. Migrated SQL database to new cluster.• Saved $200,000 in annual licensing fees by reducing server footprint (slashed core count from 72 to 32).• Maintained high availability for all applications with zero unplanned outages from 2015 to end of tenure in 2021.✔️ SQL Management System: Designed and built system based on SQL Server and tSQL code to inventory, monitor, and manage all SQL servers in the estate. Applied a least privilege approach with minimal access for SQL login.• Harnessed extensive feature set, including daily checks for common issues, weekly data capture of database inventory, automated restore testing, and maintenance job windowing and alerting.• Responded to issues with speed and precision, receiving outage, issue, and growth alerts within 30-minute windows. ✔️ SQL Consolidation Project: Hand-selected to set up a Database as a Service (DaaS), working extensively with global teams in Texas, Chile, Australia, Singapore, and India to design infrastructure and facilitate legacy SQL migrations to new environments.• Developed high and low-level documentation for DaaS environments, such as Dev, Test, QA, and Production environments with standalone and high availability options.• Seamlessly implemented 10 DaaS environments across Copper and Potash assets.

Supported business applications through production implementations, infrastructure activities, and disaster recovery exercises. Collaborated with a cross-disciplinary team to solve complex puzzles and develop innovative technologies.✔️ Server Migration & Consolidation: Planned and executed migration of legacy SQL servers to new VMWare infrastructure.• Migrated or decommissioned 56 application databases on a single SQL 2000 server to 2 new SQL 2008 R2 servers, completing the entire project in under 4 months with no unplanned outages.✔️ Gaming Data Ingestion: Reviewed daily ingestion process of video lottery terminal (VLT) gaming data from third-party vendor to on-site data warehouse and discovered major glitch in system that obscured player rankings.• Re-wrote extract, transform, load (ETL) scripts to reduce data ingestion time from 3-4 hours to under 1 hour.• Created an ETL script to capture and analyze missing time-based data, improving accuracy of player data and rankings.✔️ Kiosk System Project: Architected database structure for new kiosk system (providing automated draws and “collect and win” promotions for frequent casino players). Coded all backend business logic on SQL servers and created complex scripts to determine promotion eligibility, factoring in player rankings, recent visits, and total plays among other data.• Built a highly flexible and customizable system hailed as one of the most complex in the industry at the time.
