Sr. Mechanical Engineer
As a contract Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer for Standex, through AeroTek, I have had many projects to include modifying a convection oven to meet energy star requirements for efficiency, re-design of a pizza oven door to eliminate premature failure, design modifications to counter-top ovens to bring them into code for CE marking, design of a new counter-top warmer to compete with a competitors unit, as well as design of a new 70,000 BTU deep fat fryer to meet efficiency requirements for energy star. Designs completed using electric as well as gas systems for heating. All projects have been designed and documented using Solid Edge mechanical design software. Testing performed using Agilent data acquisition. Created Excel spreadsheets for complex calculations to to provide energy efficiency and production capacity of units. Testing performed to ANSI and NSF standards.
Mechanical Engineer
As a contract Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer for General Dynamics through AeroTek, I have been a part of a team designing a liquid cooling system for the Space Fence program. Design aspects included support structure for the piping system, flex joints for seismic event possibilities, interface control drawings for the architectural design company, flow sensors, temperature sensors, flow control valves, shut off valves, victaulic coupling system, and much more. Due to program shutdowns, the contractors were let go to make room for full time employees.
Sr. Mechanical Engineer R&D
As a contract Sr. Mechanical Engineer for E4D research and development through AeroTek, I was tasked with many aspects of design of a dual spindle 3 axis milling machine for dental restorations. Using surface modeling techniques with SolidWorks, designed a grind chamber for plastics injection molding to match covers. Designed lid quick release mechanism as well as attachment to grind chamber. Designed frame assemblies including detail drawings of weldments. Designed sheet metal components for many areas of the machine. Worked with the Electrical Engineering team to lay out PCB's. Best case, worst case, and statistical tolerance stack up analysis of complex assemblies. E4D has adequate staffing to complete verification and validation studies, therefore my contract is ending
Senior Engineer (Powered Surgical Instrumentation)
As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer at Osteomed I was tasked as project manager for the OsteoDriver 2. This project was taken from concept to market release. Working with the marketing department, produced a design input/output matrix based on user needs and market requirements. Performed design failure modes and effects analysis. Wrote and preformed protocols for the design, sterilization, packaging, shipping, and accelerated aging to prove compliance to the FDA. Verified the unit to customer expectations. Designed components include ergonomic injection molded plastic housings, multiple gear stages, spring collet for driver stem retention, and silicone injection molded buttons.Sustaining engineering tasks include root cause analysis on failure modes, practical problem solving techniques, stack up analysis, material and finish selection, re-design of reciprocating saw mechanics, re-design of quick release spring collet for driver stem retention, ultrasonic welding study and specifications.
Mechanical Engineer
Design, development, and documentation of SkyLink product. Design tasks in SolidWorks Mechanical Design Software of sheet metal, extrusions, molded plastic components, machined components, PCB interface, highly accurate motorized motion, and documentation grade graphics. Development of existing product to move toward FCC, CE, RoHS, and outdoor rated equipment. Documentation of all design work in Agile PLM.
Mechanical Designer
Mechanical design tasks including:Polarization drive assembly for a dual band On the Move Satellite communications dish. Packaging and mechanical considerations for LNA, wave guide, pancake motor, encoder, slip ring, and rotary joint.Cable routing and cable wrap for rotary motion.GD&T of tightly toleranced assembly.Multiple cad system conversions from SolidWorks, Inventor, and ACAD.Packaging and heat transfer of modem installation in field drop equipment.Electro Magnetic curtain for ship bound radar system. System includes 25 foot unidirectional pleated EMI fabric on a cable track system.
Mechanical Engineer
Designed 3 stage CDA/vacuum chuck for floating a substrate as well as holding it down. Chuck has fiber optic sensors to detect substrate presence. Chuck has a 3 point micposi leveling system as well as orthogonality adjustments.Designed class 100 enclosure. Enclosure includes automatic door. Door protected by a light curtain to prevent injury. Includes ULPA fan filter, drop down amber lighting, and an ion bar.Designed a spectrometer ferrule mounting device to adjust orthogonality of the ferrule with respect to the imaging device. Designed a bridge for the mounting of the camera strings out of granite.Designed pneumatic system. Specified valves, flow control, regulator, filter/drier, vacuum/pressure switches, and actuators for the pneumatic system as well as created pneumatic diagram for the system.Created all part models, assembly models, and drawings with BOM's.Worked with multiple vendors to obtain quotes/lead times/availability of purchase components.
Mechanical Design Engineer
Responsibilities included using SolidWorks Mechanical design software to model all components for the neck and head mechanical devices for the Zeno Robot prototype unit. Used rapid prototyping to print out parts. Components design included:3 axis compact servo driven neck mechanism to incorporate rotation, tilt, and nod.Jaw mechanism to create open and close mouth.Eye mechanism to create eye turn, look up and down, and blink eyes.Servo packaging and cable routing to pull multiple facial expressions. As well as designing the prototype, I was part of a team of individuals that assembled the robot.
Mechanical Engineer
Responsible for designing ceramic and composite rings, jigs, pc board modifications, and shop assembly drawings for probe card testing units that test silicone wafers. Design considerations for customer requested balanced contact force. Custom machine design and work holding tools to aid in manufacturing of probe card testers. Aid in QC department to provide training on measuring equipment. Digitizing raw wafers under high power microscope to obtain pad pitch for proper alignment information.
