- Moved several websites belonging to the company in house with minimal disruption to everyday business operations. These sites include www.canadapharmacy.com (needs US IP address) and www.reship.com. - Determined what areas of the websites (e.g. coding, database, web server) are causing bottlenecks and made plans on future improvement.- Hand coded parts of the websites to improve the performance and user interface. The main programming languages used includes JavaScript, jQuery, ASP .NET C#, ColdFusion, Bootstrap, CSS and HTML5. - Optimized the database (normalizing tables, rewriting the SQL queries, adding indexes where needed) to relieve database related bottlenecks. Microsoft SQL Server is the main database used.- Ensured that the websites are not down (or slow) too frequently as a lot of the company’s revenues depend on these websites. If site goes down (or is slow), rectify problem right away and determine the reasons.- Added new features like new menus, reports, order bins (what is the status of a given order / package) for end users to use. The end users are typically staff members of various departments and can range from the call centre worker to the vice president.- Learned to adapt to various technologies quickly as each website could be written in different languages and frameworks. www.reship.com is written in C#, while www.canadapharmacy.com is written in ColdFusion.- Improve existing features as per end users’ feedback.- Researched new technologies (mainly web, some mobile) with other team members and determined whether they can be used on new and existing websites.
