As an employee of Swift, I continue to maintain their ERP systems and NetApp enterprisestorage. In addition, my role has expanded to include the transition of the maintenance of theircorporate firewall administration from an outsourced provider. I also secured Swift’s SCADAsystems by migrating them to site-to-site VPNs. In addition, I oversaw the migration of our fieldlocations from an expensive legacy MPLS network to site-to-site VPNs which reduced Swift’snetwork costs by over 50%. I was able to utilize my experience across multiple disciplines todramatically speed up the cloning of Swift’s ERP systems, reducing the time from hours tominutes. I was instrumental in the planning and execution of the move of our main corporateoffice, including the move of all of our computing infrastructure. The move had minimalbusiness disruption and was completed under budget, despite an extremely aggressive timeline.

As a contract to hire consultant, I was in charge of the administration of Swift’s UNIX servers aswell as their enterprise storage. I was able to consolidate multiple systems using Solaris Zones,reducing maintenance and database licensing costs.

Member of a global infrastructure team supporting trading systems for energy, foreign exchange, and commodities on systems running Solaris with Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) as well as RedHat Linux. Projects included implementing configuration management with cfengine as well as designing and implementing security controls.

Kansas City, Missouri Area

I served as a technical lead for a group responsible for over 1,000 Solaris systems in Sprint’s ITdata centers. I was often the ‘go-to’ person to address the most critical OS issues within IT.Performance improvements I implemented saved Sprint over $1 million in hardware purchasecosts. I provided key direction in establishing standards and procedures within IT operations,including security and incident response plans that reduced response times from weeks to hours. Iworked closely with other operational groups as well as the engineering groups. As part of thiseffort, I developed several tools that were key in simplifying and automating server provisioningand configuration, dramatically reducing delivery time. I was the sole UNIX administrator onSprint’s $65 million dollar Peoplesoft HR and Finance implementation. I made keyrecommendations to its overall architecture, and I was able to increase the performance of acritical migration component from over 48 hours to under 4 hours, which eliminated timelineissues that were in danger of jeopardizing the success of the project.

While at Inteliant, I worked as a contract-to-hire consultant for Sprint PCS IT. I was quickly putin charge of system administration of most of Sprint PCS’s mission critical Solaris and HP/UXsystems, including all but one of the revenue generating systems within IT at the time. I served asSME for configuration of high-availability clusters as well as mentored other sysadmins with shellscripting (including sh, ksh, and Perl).

At Twister, I was responsible for both the Sun and Linux machines as well as the IP network. Duties included DNS, DHCP, Sendmail, NIS, RADIUS, and Samba administration, as well as maintaining all network switches, routers, and RAS devices. I also served as the project lead for the implementation of their telephony network management and provisioning system as well as their billing platform.
