    After 2 seasons managing our workforce housing department I moved onto working at The Blake Penthouses and The Blake Residneces. I conducted inventories of each of our sold Penthouses and developed pre arrival walkthrough checklists. The majority of this position was preparing the recently finished Residences building. I created punchlists of the units and was tasked to see that the work was finished. I learned to navigate our hotel management software, Springer-Milller Systems (SMS). I configured each of our owners contracts into SMS, learned how to make work orders and developed our company's work order SOP. I continued to gain extensive knowledge of SMS, and have successfully trained 8 to 10 staff members on creating guest tiles, making reservations, charging credit cards, and running reports.

    I managed every aspect of our Workforce Housing department. We had 4 buildings and 65 beds. I did approximately 90% of the maintenance. I conducted all of the reservations, check-ins, billing, collections, and check-outs. I did the housekeeping for room turnovers. I took out the trash every day. I drove a plow truck and a skid steer to remove snow from all of these buildings. I handled all aspects of snow removal with a shovel and an icepick. Snow removal included putting on a harness and climbing on roofs to prevent ice dams. I learned a lot about building maintenance in high alpine environments. This job also forced me to tap into my relationship-building and negotiation skills from when I was in the Army. I first charged rent on IQware and then switched to using Springer-Miller systems software.

I would drive to different snow guns, check the snow that was being made, and make adjustments until the perfect snowfall was being produced. This position was the most physically demanding job I've ever had, but also the most thrilling. I commend anyone who is a snowmaker.
