I earned my Ph.D. in Biology at Case Western Reserve University while working at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo under the supervision of Dr. Kristen Lukas. I performed animal behavior research at the Zoo, with my specific area of interest being the effects of the physical environment (e.g. noise) on the behavior of zoo-housed primates. In addition to this research, I have also conducted projects on a wide-variety of taxa including carnivores and aquatics and designed and administered visitor surveys.

Comparative Communication Lab

Dr. Dan Weiss's research at the Comparative Communications Lab involved behavioral experiments with a colony of cotton-top tamarins to identify comparative aspects of communication and motor planning. Having begun working for Dr. Weiss at the lab's inception, my initial duties included crate training the monkeys, designing enrichment, and constructing the experimental apparatuses. As the research program grew, I was responsible for conducting behavioral experiments, recording and analyzing vocalizations, coordinating with animal care staff and the veterinary team, and managing a team of research volunteers.
