Davis Elen is a full-service advertising agency with offices in LA, San Diego, Seattle, and Arlington. During my tenure, I have elevated through roles as Copywriter, Associate Creative Director, and Account Executive. I’m currently based in our Seattle office, responsible for account service and management of locally-owned and operated McDonald’s Co-ops in Oregon, Washington, North Idaho, and Montana. Our Northwest McDonald’s client group includes 100 individual client Owner/Operators. My primary role is to deliver advertising solutions that drive our clients’ business forward through transaction growth. My current position includes a lengthy list of account management responsibilities; here are a few from 20,000 feet: ► Deep focus and understanding of the QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) retail business model with active development of Co-op marketing plans and retail advertising tactics tailored for each market, based on product sales, guest counts, and baseline growth trend analysis. ► Local marketing plan strategy, management, and execution for 320 Northwest McDonald’s restaurants in 3 Co-ops across the Northwest Region. Responsible for the planning and fiscal management of individual Co-op budgets ranging in the multiple millions of dollars annually. ► Full scope management of creative and production campaign asset development. Includes creative briefings, selling concepts for client approval and the oversight of creative production and final campaigns to broadcast. ► Supervision of media planning and execution including TV, radio, outdoor, and digital plans based on market-specific consumer media use. Includes the management of mobile app strategies for each market based on mobile coupon offer redemption performance.► Responsible for the presentation and sale of ideas, strategies, retail tactics, and annual budgets to our client groups for approval. This includes the nurturing of client relationships while providing exceptional client service.

I was very lucky to earn the opportunity to work for Rob Thomas as a Writer’s Assistant on his critically-acclaimed TV show “Veronica Mars.” Working on this show was a life-changing experience and during my second season, I was ultimately given the opportunity to write for the show. During my time there, I learned from some of the best writers in the business about how to tell compelling stories and how to deliver projects on time, under pressure. I also learned the importance of having fun at work, every day. It was an amazing experience.

Jeanne Newman gave me the gift of a job that would ultimately lead to achieving my long-term goal of working in television as a writer. Jeanne was one of the most powerful and respected attorneys in the entertainment business. As her assistant, I managed a very busy workload that included organizing, supporting, and managing all aspects of her day-to-day business. Through her office and her client list, I was introduced to the high-level decision makers in the television business and, one day, the opportunity I was looking for came calling.

I spent three years in the freelance writing world, hustling copywriting projects for advertising agencies while reading and analyzing screenplays for a variety of entertainment companies.

Universal Studios, Ca

At DreamWorks, I managed the day-to-day office administration for the Story Department Head. This was a terrific opportunity to work on the Universal Studios lot within the Amblin Entertainment headquarters. I also oversaw the studio intern program, which involved the recruitment, supervision, and management of a large group of interns who were seeking careers in the entertainment industry.

CAA was my first foray into the entertainment industry, and the world’s leading entertainment and sports talent agency was an incredible place to start. I served as an assistant to a book-to-film literary agent, handling day-to-day office administration for Laurie. As part of an internal CAA client pitch team, I also had the opportunity to develop and pitch potential production projects to agency clients.

This was my first job in advertising. I worked as an assistant in a variety of different departments, but I ultimately gravitated to the creative department. I spent many days sweeping the floors, making copies and taking lunch orders before I finally got my start as a Copywriter.
