I am responsible for leading and managing the FACT (Finance Analytics, Control and Technology) team: providing clear direction to the team and helping to build the skills and impact of the team across HM Treasury’s spending functions, fiscal units, Whitehall finance departments and other functions, so that the unit has a distinctive expertise and is able to engage constructively with key users.The FACT team is responsible for producing, with absolute reliability, the core financial material needed to produce estimates and key publications for HMT, striving to improve the systems which underpin its collection and use, getting the best out of available data and continually pushing for service improvements.I am also responsible for managing the re-implementation of the OSCAR (Online System for Central Accounting and Reporting) system, identifying HMT’s key objectives and opportunities in developing a new system, creating effective governance structures to shape this work, and managing the implementation of the OSCAR II solution ensuring its fit for purpose and that we obtain value for money.I am the system owner and lead for OSCAR with colleagues in departments and other functions across Whitehall. This requires collaborative stakeholder relationships to be developed and managed, building consensus across a large and often diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, and managing engagement and communications to ensure buy-in.I lead the Common Chart of Accounts (CCoA) strategy and direction for Whitehall, working closely with the Government Finance Transformation Directorate and informed by the Data Strategy work and Government Shared Service to identify ways to improve the CCoA and other data structures.I also lead a programme of training and awareness raising within HMT to improve standards of data manipulation in spending control so that financial information is better embedded into decision making.

I am responsible for developing and delivering a programme of change across the College’s Finance organisation (130+ FTEs), as part of the College’s overall Operational Excellence agenda. This includes providing oversight of Finance operations and performance to ensure the College implements the operating models, structures and modernisation required to deliver the Finance and College strategy.I am also responsible for programme and project managing a broad range of transformation projects across Finance, ensuring the effective design and implementation of process, organisation and technology improvements to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, resilience, regulatory compliance and level of internal control of the Finance function.I currently lead a team of ten across three interconnected disciplines: Finance Transformation, Finance Systems, and Finance Training & Change Management.Selected Accomplishments:• Led a programme of work to assess and improve the College’s Finance Internal Controls framework, implementing over 100 different process, system and control changes to address a range of control risks.• Re-designed the College’s e-invoicing arrangements, identifying significant opportunities for end-to-end cost reduction, process automation and service improvement.• Managed the implementation of a new, Cloud-based solution for internet payments to the College.• Critically-reviewed the College’s expenses management solution, to design a range of policy, process and user interface improvements.• Updated the College’s Oracle Financials (EBS 12.1.3) implementation to enable multi-company accounting, delivering a step-change in financial reporting capability.• Streamlined and automated the group consolidation process, delivering efficiency savings and improvements in financial governance and accountability.• Managed the College’s overall transition from UK GAAP to FRS 102, including a number of significant accounting policy changes.

Responsible for driving growth and profitability in Accenture's Finance & Accounting Business Process Outsourcing (F&A BPO) business by working with both current and potential future clients to discuss and define their F&A expectations and performance objectives, to design accounting operational solutions to achieve those objectives, and to project manage the implementation of those solutions within both the client and Accenture's organisation.Selected client experience:Interim Shared Services Manager for Microsoft's European Finance Shared Service Centre (c. 70 people in total) providing Accounts Payable, Vendor Management and T&E processing services to 15 countries. Responsible for day-to-day service delivery, including detailed monthly performance reporting and controls execution.Global Process Owner for Accenture's Procure to Pay (“P2P”) BPO Offering, responsible for defining the global value proposition, strategic direction and investment plan for the service as a whole. Conducted workshops with multiple stakeholders from around the world to analyse current performance and capabilities, gather input on future strategic direction, and identify current “pain points”. Project managed a number of offering-related investment projects including a global F&A performance benchmarking project, the launch of a global P2P Analytics capability (re-training and re-equipping a current delivery team to provide additional, complex value-added services), and the implementation of Optical Character Recognition technology to support greater levels of P2P invoice automation in Accenture's primary European scanning locations.Delivery of an end-to-end Capital Procurement and Asset Management service to the Sainsbury’s business, including Asset Procurement, Billing, Location Register and Asset Disposal services.
