My sweat spot: Joined a B2B SaaS startup entering growth phase. Recently landed Series A investment and with usage growth picking up they are hitting all of the usual growth pains: Reliability, Security, Scalability, Velocity.Projects to date:- Implemented SAML and OAuth options for API users and enterprise- Implemented a comprehensive security strategy across the AWS infrastructure- Implemented CI/CD across the platform- Produced mountains of (absent) documentation on the architecture, infrastructure, deployment procedures, etc.- Tuned JIRA to reflect and support their chosen SDLC (Kanbany/Agileish)- Reduced AWS costs by 75% by shifting to serverless infra (Lambdas, Fargate/ECS, Serverless Aurora, Opensearch, etc)- Implemented dozens of changes to prepare the company for Soc2 compliance.

After a decade of rapid-growth startups I'm taking an active recharge. While I search for something meaningful to devote my full attention to I'm doing a little consulting work and enjoying the opportunity to contribute some code on a few projects doing a mix of fullstack and devops tasks on my favorite techstack (React/Node/SQL/serverless/AWS).

Hands-on Head of engineering role at a B2B Fintech startup.Lead a team of 15+ at this boutique B2B lender. Main focus on the operational support and enhancement of custom software platform for underwriting, processing and supporting financial products (Rev based loan, line of credit, term loans, etc). Agile-ish methodology with weekly deployments. Mix of React and ASP.Net frontends; C# .Net Core backends. Mostly cloud-hosted SQL Server databases with Mongo used here and there. A lot of heavy lifting of highly sensitive financial data (eg. using Plaid, Xero and Quickbooks to retrieve bank statements and accounting information). ML used throughout software to assist with loan health and risk evaluation. Jenkins, JIRA and GitHub.Reporting to CTO with a seat on the exec team.

A senior/executive role reporting to CEO with a lot of dotted-lines.Interfaced into the engineering team, but this was a really a zero-coding role.Invited to join Cin7 based on my performance at Pushpay, the principals and investors of this 13-year old SaaS business wanted my assistance in readying the company for exit-via-acquisition (which was accomplished successfully in 2018).♣ Led market research and analysis that directly resulted in doubling of revenues in 2017♣ Full lifecycle of development, release and market development for payments related functionality directly generating new sources of revenue.♣ Established a robust product management culture and practices into a rapidly growing SaaS company that was previously operating like a software consultancy. ♣ Decentralised product management, hired new staff and groomed existing staff to form a team of 10+ product staff.♣ Documented the product strategy and instituted a methodology for regularly and routinely managing the product roadmap.♣ Relationship management for third-party integrators and the ecosystem of integrated apps and services.♣ Directed the full lifecycle of dozens of new features and capabilities.

Joined small startup as principal engineer, role developed as the company grew 1000x over 3 years.ASP.Net, C#, SQL Server, AWS, CI/CD via Teamcity & Octopus Deploy.♣ Drove daily functions for a financial services SAAS solution that focuses on engaging clients by delivering cutting-edge mobile payments; contributed substantially to staggering growth, esp. 445% growth in four quarters through April 2016♣ Joined the company shortly after its first payment was processed; worked as a senior leadership product developer and played a direct role in overseeing the product roadmap over 3 years of notable growth: from $0-$100M ARR growth, thru to IPO.♣ Worked with a product-focused CEO and other senior leadership to translate the yearly and quarterly goals of the company into a robust yet agile product roadmap♣ Recruited and mentored a quality-driven engineering and product design team; grew staff to over 50 members in 30 months♣ Established an environment that supported safe production deployments around the clock; maintained security, code quality and always-available service♣ Oversaw critical security and compliance practices including PCI- compliance yearly attestation, external PEN-testing and regular external security audits.
